BackSeminar By Master Wood 7th Degree

1st November 2014

On 1st of November 2014 Region 5 hosted its first Self defence Seminar level one which was under the direction of the Master of our region Master Wood 7th degree.

The Self defence seminar was well supported with attendance from 8th kup up to and including 6th degrees, from all Taekwon do clubs within Region 5 boundaries.

The two hour Seminar flew by with students gaining level one self defence skills. Knowledge of the scientific use of how the body, hands and arms in particular connect together in order for you to utilize your technical ability, by using release movements to your attacker. Either to release yourself and seek help or to put your attacker in a position where they become vulnerable and put yourself into a stronger position.

The hand releases learned had different levels of intensity as this may be needed depending on the size, weight and muscle strength of the attacker to the defender. Other reinforcements were also learned into how to use target areas on the body as to weaken your attackers hold before attempting a release movement.

Master Wood 7th degree also demonstrated how to use takedowns effectively  and gave us an insight in how to defend yourself against weapons including a baseball bat, knifes and even guns.

This Self-defence Seminar was at level one basic; within 2015 Master Wood 7th degree and Region 5 will be hosting a Self defence level 2 with more complicated techniques and weapons. Please watch out for dates up and coming on the Events page.
