Ms Harpreet K. Virk commenced her Taekwon-Do training at the age of 10 in Hillingdon, Middlesex under the instruction of World and European Champion, Ms Tham Ying Au who has since advanced to 9^th Degree. It was under the instruction of Ms Au that Harpreet attained her Black Belt, 1^st Degree.

Throughout her Taekwon-Do career, Harpreet has regularly competed at national and international level, both as a Colour Belt and as a Black Belt.

In 2005, Harpreet took five years out of training to focus on her studies. During this time, she successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree in Law, a Master’s degree in International Commercial Law and was called to the Bar of England and Wales.

Having finished her studies, Harpreet was eager to return to training. Unfortunately for Harpreet, by this time Ms Au had retired from teaching.

In 2010, Harpreet decided to continue her training elsewhere and graded for her 2nd Degree 2011, her 3^rd Degree in 2013 and her 4^th Degree in 2016. Harpreet also completed the International Instructors Course in Las Vegas in 2015.

Harpreet’s last international competition was the World Cup in 2012. Since then, her focus has turned to her Taekwon-Do School in Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire which she opened later in 2012. Teaching is Harpreet’s true passion and she has gone on to produce a number of Black Belts of her own as a result of this.

In 2018, Harpreet was diagnosed with a rare form of arthritis and wondered if she would ever be able to teach or train in Taekwon-Do again. Thankfully, with the support and encouragement of GM Nicholls and the other UK ITF Instructors, she is teaching and training to this day.

In 2021, Harpreet opened a second school in Fulmer, Buckinghamshire.

Harpreet currently works as a Solicitor and runs South Bucks TKD (which is part of UK ITF). She also hopes that her two sons, Shamsher (4) and Zoravar (3) will start their own Taekwon-Do journeys in the near future.
