Congratulations to all students who competed at the SE Regionals 🎉
With over 160 competitors, this was certainly one event not to be missed. The event kicked off with our most junior students in the Generation-X division. As always, our future champs gave 100 percent and we couldn''''t be prouder. It was great to see everyone having fun, learning in the ring and leaving the event (win or lose) with a smile on their face 😄
The morning was concluded with our junior competitors. These events are always a great opportunity for our black belts to gain valuable ring experience and sharpen their skills in preparation for the upcoming Nationals. This was followed by our junior colour belts who were out to impress. With three rings running throughout the day, friends and family watching from the crowd were treated to a nail biting display of competitive Taekwon-Do. As we come to expect from our students, each competitor gave their best and took the results given with humility and respect. This was also a great opportunity for our colour belts to watch and learn from the current black belt national champions in the region. It is our hope that many of the students that attended the regionals can now take part in the upcoming National championships this October.
After a short break, the room began to flood with cadets eager to step into the ring. For many, this was their first time competing and as instructors, it was great to see the progression in skills and ring craft from our white belt beginners to our more experienced black tags. This once again sheds light on the important role these regional events play on developing sparring skills at grass root level.
As always, we would like to thank the competitors, umpires, instructors and supporters who came together to help make the event a success. Particular thanks extend to the UK ITF direct members, affiliate groups and BTC organisations who attended the event from outside the Region. We look forward to returning the favour. We also would like to note the efforts of our regional umpires who worked tirelessly throughout the day to ensure each student received the best possible experience. Special credit goes to Diana O''''Malley and Harry Cochrane who were voted umpires of the tournament.
