Region 12 interclub

Sunday 11th June 2023 saw UK ITF Region 12 host their first inter-club competition. For most students this was the first taste of competitive Taekwon-Do with Generation X & Cadets taking to the mat. We had 16 competitors across the two age groups with 10 Generation X facing off against one another & 6 cadets from both Lone Wolf Tae Kwon Do Holbeach & Dempsey TKD

The morning began with a short group warm up moving swiftly into the patterns categories. Once patterns had concluded and medals had been handed out; students were given the opportunity to break a board. If successful they would receive a personalised wooden bookmark. Generation X students made short work of the boards with every student punching through with ease. Sparring began with Generation X up first and all students displaying great control, for our youngest students in the region we were very happy to see such a variety of technique, confidence & joy whilst sparring. The categories concluded and the students awarded their medals.

It was now the turn of the regions cadets to compete in sparring, after many entrants training together in May at the sparring workshop the umpires were eager to witness what had been learnt. As our first competition the umpires had agreed every sparring bout would consist of 2 rounds with round 1 being point stop sparring and the 2nd round being continuous. After our regions cadets had completed their sparring they too were offered the opportunity to break a board. They were given the option to choose the technique & with all students choosing to punch except by Miss Neive Tartant who obliterated the board with a side kick.

It was a tremendous sight to see the regions students compete & support one another. Thank you to the parents for prompt arrivals, support during and positive comments once the had finished the day.
