Wow...what an amazing event yesterday at the SE Regional Championships. Held at Brunel University, the day saw over 190 students competing from 17 clubs.

For many of our regional members, this was their first taste of competition and we couldn''''t be prouder of you, stepping into the ring, conquering your fears and leaving with a smile.

The day kick started with our youngest students in the generation-X divisions. With each ring being led by one of our senior umpires and supported by our newly appointed regional umpires, we were in for an exciting, fair and encouraging start to the competition.
With patterns and sparring completed, the generation-X then had the opportunity to watch our Junior Black belts compete for top spot on the podium. With many of the students currently battling it out in the UK ITF rankings, this was a great opportunity to polish their skill and perfect their ring craft. Impressing the crowd with sharp patterns and well executed sparring skills, it was clear to see the high calibre of talent developing across the region and UK ITF.

The afternoon continued with Junior and cadet colour belts. With three rings running throughout the day, friends and family watching from the crowd were treated to a nail biting display of competitive Taekwon-Do. As we come to expect from our students, each competitor gave 100 percent and took the result given with humility and respect.

As the afternoon progressed from white belt to black tag it was encouraging to see the experience of our more senior members shining through, shedding light on the positive impact these regional events have on developing talent at grass root level.

As always thank you to all the competitors, umpires, instructors and supporters who came together to help make the event a success. Particular thanks extend to the UK ITF and affiliate groups who attended the event from outside the Region. We look forward to returning the favour!!
We also would like to note the efforts of our regional umpires who worked tirelessly throughout the day to ensure each student received the best possible experience. Special credit goes to Adam Ouznadji who was voted umpire of the tournament.
