Great day for our K1 and Full contact kickboxers who competed in today''''s WAKO British Nationals, representing under the PTK banner.
Up first and competing in his debut fight was Ross Chaplin. After a tough fought three rounds, the judges narrowly swayed in the favour of his opponent. Certainly lots learnt from this fight which has left Ross fired up for the next big event.
Up next was Taekwon-Do World Champion Harry Evans. Now looking to take the K1 circuit by storm, Harry quickly took to the centre of the ring with the game plan of pressuring his opponent onto the back foot. After a series of well timed attacks, Harry was able to force the pace of the fight and in the 3rd round gave his opponent a standing eight count. The final bell rang and saw Harry as the clear winner. With the BRITISH NATIONAL TITLE now under his belt, we are excited to see what is next in store for this world class fighter.
Our final competitor and stepping into the ring for the first time was Armandas Petruskevicius. Competing in his debut kickboxing bout against a seasoned competitor, this was set to be an exciting 3 rounds. The event did not disappoint and saw each fighter throwing series of well placed shots. At the start of the final round all was to play for. The scores were close and each fight was looking to make a statement. Standing toe to toe and trading blows in the centre of the ring, the final round had all spectators watching on the edge of their seats. Unfortunately this was not to be Armandas''''s day, narrowly losing out to a tough opponent. Similarly to Ross, this has only left Armandas more fired up for the next challenge.
As always we would like to thank everyone who came to support the event as well as PTK coaches Matthew Brunger and Jamie McAvoy for arranging entry into the event and coaching throughout the day. We will certainly be back competing again at the next WAKO event.....watch this space 👊
