UK ITF SE Regional Championships
With over 160 competitors in attendance from 16 clubs across the UK, we were pleased to host a packed-out competition once again with students ranging from 4-17 years old. Our regional events have always aimed at introducing our students to the exciting world of Taekwon-Do competition and gain ring experience in a fun and friendly environment.
After a short introduction and warm up from our resident Mc Mr Gav Sidhu, and demonstration of choreographed sparring from our black belt demo team, we were ready to get the event under way. Up first were our youngest students competing in the Generation-X divisions. As always, the talent shown in this age group wowed the spectators and umpires. The students were a true credit to their clubs, performing with confidence, focus and determination far beyond their years. We look forward to watching our generation-X progress and begin competing at the UK ITF National events very soon.
The morning was concluded with our Junior Colour belt and black belt categories. With many of the generation-X watching on, and a full crowd of spectators cheering from the stands, our teens certainly did not disappoint. Win, lose or draw each decision was taken graciously, once again showing how much our juniors are becoming ideal role models to the Generation-X students coming through.
The afternoon session was an opportunity for our cadet students to showcase all their hard work and dedication. As we have come to expect from our students, each competitor performed to a high standard and was a true pleasure to watch. As we progressed from white belts through the grades it was encouraging to see their competition experience on display, shedding light on the importance and positive impact these regional events have on the development of our competitors.
We want to thank all the competitors that attended the competition and special thanks to Thornbury Taekwon-Do, Brixworth Taekwon-Do School, Gassor’s TKD Wales, Hogans Institute of Taekwon-Do, Penzance TKD School, Poole TKD, Roade Taekwon-Do School and Sidhu Taekwon-Do Academies for travelling down and supporting the event. We would also like to extend our appreciation to the event staff and Umpires who worked tirelessly throughout the day to ensure the event was run smoothly, professionally and enjoyed by all.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the SE Regionals for our next event on Saturday 25th March.
