Staged at Brunel University and organised by the Instructors and students of Region 1, spectators were treated to once again another exciting day of friendly competition. With over 160 competitors in attendance including the support of our UK ITF partners; Chands Institute of Taekwon-Do, Fishponds TKD Academy, Hogan’s TKD and Welwyn Taekwon-Do we were all eager to commence.

Up first to compete were our youngest students of the day in the Generation-X Purple, Red and Green belt divisions. As always, the students were a true credit to their clubs, performing with confidence, focus and determination far beyond their years.

Patterns and sparring done, it was now time for our junior black belts to compete and showcase their skills ahead of the upcoming World Championships. With the generation-X watching on, and a full crowd of spectators cheering from the stands, our youth certainly did not disappoint. Win, lose or draw each decision was taken graciously, once again showing how much our juniors are becoming ideal role models to the Generation-X students coming through.

Following a short break, it was time to continue with our cadet and colour belt juniors. With three rings running throughout the day, the spectators were treated to a nail-biting display of competitive Taekwon-Do, once again highlighting the vast amount of talent progressing through the ranks of Region 1.

As we have come to expect from our students, each competitor performed to a high standard and was a true pleasure to watch. As we progressed from white belts through the grades it was encouraging to see their competition experience shining through, shedding light on the importance and positive impact these Regional events have on the development of our competitors.

Following on from this great event, we would like to thank all the students that participated at the South East Regional Championships, our friends from Fishponds TKD, Chand TKD Institute, Hogan’s TKD and Welwyn TKD, as well as the umpires and admin team that worked tirelessly throughout the day to ensure the event ran smoothly.

As I am sure you aware, this was a fundraising event for our Regional competitors who will be travelling out to Argentina at the end off July to compete at the 2018 ITF World Championships. Please follow the website and Facebook page to track their progress throughout this time
