Congratulations to Stoke Gifford Taekwon-do student Phoebe Grandfield on winning the Bristol Young Sporting Hero award 2016.

Phoebe was nominated by her tutors at SGS College & Instructor at Stoke Gifford TKD Miss Burridge.
She was notified in February that she had made it through as a finalist & was then invited to the dinner & awards evening that was held the Wills Memorial Building in Bristol on Friday 1st April 2016.

Phoebe was joined by her family; mum, dad & gran along with Miss Burridge, Alison, Jenni & Laura from the club. The awards were proceeded by a lovely dinner with over 200 other hopeful finalists, friends, family & celebrities. Phoebe’s category was the 5th one to be announced & as with the other nominees a short video was shown before, that was filmed in February of Miss Burridge talking about Phoebe’s achievements.
After all video''s were shown it was Big Brother 2011 star Josie Gibson that announced & presented the award. Our table was both shocked & elated when Phoebe’s name was revealed as the winner! A very excited Phoebe made her way to the stage to collect her award & give a brief speech, thanking the people that were important to her achieving so much & overcoming the obstacles that she faces.

The evening concluded with many group photo’s to include some of the celebrities that had attended the event.

We are very proud of Phoebe’s achievements at the club & are so pleased that she has been rewarded for her high level of dedication & determination that she has shown for so many years in the face of some really tough challenges.

Well done Phoebe!
