Poole Taekwon-Do Academy, supported by members of Stoke Gifford School of Taekwon-Do, participated in the annual ‘Join In Sport’ event at Poole Park in Dorset on Sunday 17th August 2014.
The day started bright and sunny, and Miss Kerry Burridge and her students were able to enjoy a brief visit to the beach, feel the sand between their toes and meet a couple of lifeguards.
The event attracted members of the public to have a go at many different sports and activities available in the area. As well as introducing the new classes at Poole Taekwon-Do Academy, the event provided an excellent opportunity to promote Touch Gloves.
Touch Gloves is the national governing body programme, funded by Sport England, which is aimed at encouraging females aged 14-25yrs to participate in Taekwon-Do.
Poole Taekwon-Do Academy would like to thank Miss Burridge and all the members of Stoke Gifford School of Taekwon-Do who made the long journey to support us and being such brilliant ambassadors of UK ITF. The demonstrations encouraged many people to join in and everyone’s enthusiasm engaged many on-lookers to ask questions and find out how much Taekwon-Do has to offer. Despite a torrential downpour in the afternoon, everyone remained cheerful and a real credit to Miss Burridge and UK ITF.
Poole Taekwon-Do Academy is now open in The Project Climbing Centre, Poole Sports Centre in the Dolphin Centre, and seeking to recruit members. The Academy offers classes for students 4yrs to adults of any ability. Taekwon-Do is great for improving fitness and flexibility, co-ordination, balance, self-control and confidence.
