IIC INTERNATIONAL COURSE WITH GRAND MASTER CHOI JUNG HWA 9TH DEGREE BLACK BELT - SATURDAY 2ND MARCH AND SUNDAY 3RD MARCH

On Friday 1st March Master Gary Gassor, 7th Degree Black Belt and two of his students myself (Mr. Christopher Thomas) and Mr. Sam Pupic from Gassor''s Taekwo-Do Wales travelled to London to take part in the IIC International Instructor Course in London held by Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa, 9th Degree Black Belt and son of the founder of Taekwon-Do General Choi Hong Hi.

The IIC course was the 82nd course to take place with over 80 people in attendance for this two day event including Masters and Instructors from all over the world, with the event taking place over the Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday''s Seminar began at 9am with Master Gassor taking the class through an intense stretching warm up.  The Seminar then followed with the theory behind the sign wave performed in patterns and a break down of the pattern Yul-Gok.  Master Gassor began the afternoon session with a warm up and training drills which got the room excited and ready to train again.  Master Choi Jung Hwa then took the class through the break down of the pattern Po-Eun and also explained how to teach side kicks.  I was then selected to demonstrate how to teach a side kick.

On the Saturday evening a banquet was held in honour of Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa where Master Trevor Nicholls, 8th Degree Black Belt held the annual awards for the UKITF.  Alongside these awards Master Zondag of Holland was also promoted to the rank of 8th degree Black Belt in honour of his services and dedication to ITF Taekwon-Do.

Sunday''s class was also very enlightening and began with an explanation of bowing and the reasons behind it.  The difference between a Western Bow and an Oriental Bow was also explained, we were then taken through breakdowns of front kicks and how we should generate power. Later we were given explanations of further Patterns and the theory of generating power.

Myself, Master Gassor and Mr. Sam Pupic thoroughly enjoyed the weekend mixing with Masters and Instructors, meeting new people and forging new relationships and also reminiscing with old friends.

On behalf of myself and Gassor''s Taekwon-Do Wales we would like to thank Master Nicholls and Ashely Nicholls for organising a great weekend.
