UK ITF Region 2 Season''''s Greetings and End of year

Training, gradings, technical seminars, sponsored spars, national and international tournaments: Phew!! It''''s been a busy year!

Starting with our grass-roots training, new classes have opened in Luton under the expert instruction of Miss Prit Sidhu (IV), supported by Mr Gav Sidhu (IV) and Miss Gurlaine Sidhu (III).

Regional events have included our annual Battle100/50, a grueling test of endurance with 50/ 100 x 1 minute spars, plus a technical training day concentrating on a deep-dive into the syllabus.

UK ITF Generation X (4-7yrs) continues to grow in leaps and bounds, pretty much how our younger Taekwon-do students move around the class (such energy!).

The many hours of training by our colour belt and black belt students is reflected in the many successful gradings that have taken place over the year.

Students, Umpires, Coaches and Instructors have travelled around the country to enjoy the National UK ITF tournaments. Region 2 is pleased to mention 2 students in particular who qualified for the UK ITF Elite path and represented Team England at the ITF World Championships 2012 in Canada. Huge congratulations to Mr Andrew Lawrence (III) World Champion - 3rd Degree Senior male patterns, and Mrs Hayley Smyth (II) World Silver Medallist - Senior female Hyperweight sparring and Hayley Smyth - World Bronze Medallist - 2nd Degree Senior female patterns.

As Regional coordinator I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Instructors and Assistant Instructors in the region who dedicate their time to their students, the region and the UK ITF. Your hard work is reflected in the many successes of your students, be it perfection of a side kick in class, a medal at a competition or completing 100 rounds of sparring. It is a pleasure to work with such committed and enthusiastic Instructors. Have a great Christmas and rest over the holidays!

Region 2 holds classes around Hertfordshire for all age groups: Berkhamsted, Dagnall (Mr Tom Brennan IV), Welwyn (Mr Andrew Lawrence III), Stevenage (Dr Hayley Parker V), Luton, Harpenden (Miss Prit Sidhu IV), Hemel Hempstead (Mr Dave Gurney III Taekwon-Do, Mr Darren Hobbs II kickboxing) and Watford (Mr Lee Hollingsworth VI).
