Well done to all our juniors who have really put in an outstanding performance at these championships, they are really proving that UK ITF have fantastic future talent coming through.
Day 4 was a quiet day for UK ITF with mainly team events for adults & finals for adult male sparring going on. We had the ladies team perform in the patterns who beat the Czech Republic to gain a place in the final against Argentina. Both teams performed excellent patterns, but the UK ladies were narrowly beaten by the polished Argentians. The ladies then went onto compete in the team sparring & were drawn against Austrailia in the first round. Nicola, Laurie & Gemma all won thier fights which put them straight through to the semi-final against Netherlands. The ladies changed sparring equipment colour & prepared for the next round only to be told that their oppostition had decided to withdraw! This put them straight into the final against thier old nemeses from 2010 World Championships Argentina. The ladies will compete on day 5 in the sparring final.
Canada also ran a festival competition on day 4 & we had three students from the UK who took a break from thier Canadian holiday to participate. All three did really well having an enjoyable experience & picking up some very flash medals. Congratulations to Sarah, Ben & Chloe Baker-Attwood from UK ITF club Stoke Gifford TKD.
Day 5 will see the remaining adult team events, power & special taking place, with an athletes party to close the competition & celebrate a great week of hard competition & fantastic results.
