As Blackbelt and squad training only started in 2012 we have now had 4 sessions which have been well supported.Mr Curt Stevens 4th dan started class with a vigorous warm up followed by multiple combination techniques, Master M Wood then split the students with 1st dan 1st and 2nd kups with Mr Kerry Wilson 5th Dan, covering 1 2 3 step, semi-free sparring,self-defence, free sparring, combinations, and technical advice on destruction.

While Master M Wood took 2nd dan upwards for the same elements plus bag work. On destruction everyone had the opportunity to perform their skills with hand and foot. Master Wood only allowed no more than two boards on any one technique. To break more boards is impressive, but more importantly is how we execute the preparation and approach, for example correct focus, posture,foot-shape and timing which are all important factors to acheiving a good technique on target. In the final 50 mins everyone was put through all patterns to grade, with a veiw to any changes within the ITF syllabus.

I would like to extend my personal thanks to all assistant Instructors for their TKD input and to Mr Alasdair Walkinshaw and his student Emily for coming all the way from Cheshire and Darren from Lincoln. See you in Scotland on the 18th March.
