On Sunday 29th January Stoke Gifford Taekwon-Do was delighted to have Master Deedigan return to Bristol to give a Self Defence Seminar for students of all ages.

Some of the younger attendees were a  little apprehensive as to what it was going to involve but Master Deedigan soon put them at ease and there was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere throughout the session.

The seminar began with an explanation of how the majority of crime is avoidable and the importance of always being aware of events taking place around us.

Master Deedigan showed everyone how our own body posture and attitude can affect the outcome of certain situations and then, much to the delight of all, went on to show us (with the help of some willing volunteers!) some useful techniques to employ if things get physical!

Everyone then paired up and began to practise on each other, with Master Deedigan and Miss Burridge on hand to give guidance or answer any questions.

The children took up the tasks with great enthusiasm, as did the ''grown ups'', and the room was constantly filled with, not only the sound of people discussing and perfecting the moves, but of the laughter of them as they had a thoroughly great time doing it!

Time passed all too quickly and we were all disappointed when the seminar was brought to a close.

We would like to express our deepest thanks to Master Deedigan, not only for coming to us on that particular Sunday to share his considerable knowledge and experience with us, but also for leaving us a little more confident than when we arrived and a feeling of having had a tremendous amount of fun.

We are already looking forward to the next time.
