On Sunday 10th July 2011 the English Championships took place at Carn Brea Leisure Centre, we all arrived bright and early ( well some of us were anyway !!), to get the hall ready and all the electronic scoring systems up and working before the competitors arrived.

The weigh in started as soon as the competitors arrived and soon all five rings were underway with patterns as there were over three hundred competitors efficiency was the key and thanks to the hard work of all the officials things were running smoothly and on time!!

The under seven years were a definite favourite with the crowd and with lots of smiling faces on the children it seems they all had fun too. The day continued with black belt patterns then sparring, with the qualifying for the Europeans in Naples and The World Championships in Canada, it was all to play for, and we were not disappointed, the competitors really rose to the occasion.
Then on to the coloured belts and the mood was definitely infectious with some really good performances right the way through.

It turned out to be a very successful day and a lovely atmosphere, with UKITF and the partner groups really pulling together .

As with all these events it is a team effort and Mr Richards and I would like to thank all the officials who worked tirelessly throughout the day and a special mention for Master Nicholls for his help in running the tournament, Master Skyrme, Master Deedigan, Master Lawes and Master Jones for all their efforts.
