Region 4 Mini Stomp 2011
On Sunday 6th, competitors from across Cornwall entered in a Mini Stomp Competition at the Dracaena Centre in Falmouth. The fund raising tournament was open to all children 12 years old or younger.
The morning begun with Generation X students performing their patterns or 30 seconds of flash, energetic and imaginative routines on ring 1 whilst cadets of various belts battled on ring 2 with their traditional patterns, which were still energetic and full of good technique.
Later came sparring. Everyone’s favourite event saw an array of skilled and fast kicks from all students. There were cheers of encouragement and congratulations from parents and spectators as those competing showed their enthusiasm to win and do well.
Finally the morning featured everyone attempting Special Techniques, which was simply Flying Front kick on a kick shield. But it soon provided entertainment for all as the hight increased and the jumps stretched the maximum. Even the instructors and officials wanted to attempt the challenge!
The day was a great fund raiser as well as giving the younger members a chance to explore the competitive aspect of our martial art. All that attended, including officials went away with a certificate thanking them for them support for the event and hoping they will take part at future tournaments. One day they might become World Champions?
A big thank you from all the instructors to those that took part on the day and make the day possible.
