To assist with the national agenda supported by Public
Health, the NHS and other statutory organisations, Sport England direct funding
to initiatives which are aimed at increasing participation in physical activity
in every sector of the community. One of
the programmes through which Sport England do this is Sportivate.
Trenic Taekwon-Do Academies, as a member of UK ITF and BTC,
the NGB (national governing body) for Taekwon-Do in the UK, work with schools,
colleges and community groups, as well as directly in their clubs, to support
increased participation. One of the particular initiatives is the BTC ‘Touch
Gloves’ programme.
With full intention to support the initiative, Yiewsley TKD
Academy fulfilled the criteria to host a six week ‘Touch Gloves’ programme. The
aim of the course was to allow the opportunity for women to take part in a
physical activity that includes the fundamentals of Taekwon-do’s dynamic
kicking and punching techniques. Trenic coaches Mr McAvoy and Mr Nicholls have been
working closely together to deliver the course in such a way that all women, regardless
of age, shape, and ability could dig deep and train hard in both a fun and
engaging environment.
The six week course started on June 13th and has proven
to be a great success, receiving positive responses from all in attendance.
With the course soon coming to an end, we would like to congratulate all those
that have taken part and encourage the ladies to continue their training in one
of our full time academies.
