Region 1 support the BTC Touch gloves Initiative View all articles
With over 450
junior and female competitors, this was an exciting competition not to be
missed. As students from UKITF Region 1 took on the best the BTC had to offer,
we were all eager to watch a day of explosive, all or nothing sparring.
Stepping
into the T.A.G.B’S playing grounds we knew the odds were against us as we
quickly had to adapt to new rules and scoring system. However as always, we
were keen to step up to the mark and show everyone we were here to win!!
Our first
win of the day came by Gurlaine Sidhu in the 4th Degree and above
division with Gemma falling just short to take a well-earned bronze medal. Continuing
in this fashion, our second gold of the day was won convincingly by Harry Evans
who’s strength and superior ring-craft proved too much for his
opponents……..Another win to add to his every growing collection of titles.
Gold number
three was taken by senior Competitor Inta Sadika in the points sparring
division. Although being Inta’s first ever competition, she did not seem fazed
by the occasion. Battling her way through 2 tough bouts she was able to both
outwork and outscore her opposition. With Inta’s 1st competition down
and one gold medal under her belt we look forward to watching her progress from
strength to strength.
The dream
team ‘Katie Hetherington, Lucie Robertshaw and Esme McCarthy’ took our final
gold in the junior female team sparring. Leaving their opponents faced with a
barrage of quick kicks and powerful punches the girls unanimously took a
well-deserved gold home for UKITF.
Win lose or draw
this was a fantastic show from Region 1, highlighting both our support to the
BTC and Touch Gloves initiative. For more information on the touch gloves
