UKITF Scotland Region 1 at the Welsh Championships View all articles
UKITF Scotland''s Queen Margaret University Taekwon-Do club headed south to participate in the UKITF Welsh Open Championships on Sunday 19th February at Penarth Leisure Centre.
After their success on a regional, national and international stage in 2011, the club were keen to get 2012 off to a good start. After competitor registration and the dreaded weigh-in, the competition got underway with the officials ensuring that the categories were run efficiently and from the moment the first QMU student stepped onto the mats the medals soon started to add up with the QMU fighters earning an excellent 23 medals overall from only 10 competitors, with 12 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze medals.
Our thanks go to Master Ian Lawes, UKITF Wales, all the ring officials, referees and judges and to everyone who helped make the competition an enjoyable one. Thank you also to our 4 loyal supporters, Mr Dougie Robertson, Miss Jennifer Robertson, Mr James Gault and Miss Lynsey Hope who travelled with the team to offer their support.
