On Sunday 15th February, Master Ian Lawes hosted the Welsh championships in Penarth, near Cardiff in South Wales.
Nearly 200 competitors took part during the day travelling from all over the UK to attend, with some driving for up to 5 hours to be there. Master Nicholls was also present, lending his usual support to the event.
For some people, it was their first tournament and a chance to test their skills against others for the very first time. For other seasoned competitors, it was an opportunity to warm up for the upcoming European championships. Master Lawes is very much looking forward to bringing a group of Welsh students to those championships later this year in Croatia.
Thanks to all competitors, parents, umpires and Masters for supporting this event.
