The first Imperial Inter-club competition was a great success with over 115 competitors coming from all around the Bristol area. We also had competitors travelling from as far a Paignton in Devon, and from Cardiff & Newport in South Wales.
The day started promptly at 10am kicking off with the black belt section, all of who put on an excellent display of both patterns & sparring to the countless spectators. After all the medals were presented to the Black belts the coloured belt section started with the juniors, & many of the Black belts that had just competed jumped straight in to help umpire & referee. With the help of the Black belts & several helpers we sped through the many sections to bring the day to its conclusion with the Adult power test. All the spectators were given an excellent display of the great technique that many of the competitors had to be able to smash through the boards. With the medals presented, the hall tidied & cleared the day finished at 2.30pm with a well earned celebration drink at the local pub!
A big thank you goes to all that gave up their time to help, & keep the day running so smoothly & we look forward to the 2nd Imperial Bristol Inter-club in 2009! Written by: Kerry Burridge - 2nd December 2008
