UKITF Region 7 was very pleased to host the 4th annual Team Challenge on Sunday 22nd May 2011. The regions teams were joined by other teams from around the country including Scotland & a large contingent from Wales. This gave the competition over 80 teams consisting of around 230 competitors.

The competition started promptly with UKITF President Master Trevor Nicholls in attendance to oversee proceedings. We also had the privilege of the help & knowledge of Master Michael Wood & Master Don Deedigan.

The challenge kicked off with the adult black belts giving a great display of team patterns. The day progressed well with many degree students competing & then swiftly getting changed into shirt & tie to help with umpiring. With their assistance we managed to open up all four rings & the competition got into full swing. The younger student’s age ranging from 5-8years then were able to put into practice what they had learnt with their instructors & show their skills to the crowd. As the competition drew to a close the black belts attempted to break as many boards as they could in the power test & the final points were totalled up to give the best overall club trophy results. Master Nicholls was then on hand to present the trophy to Mr Grant Churchward of Paignton TKD with an impressive total score of 142. The competition then drew to a close at 4.30pm; the student s & spectators were delighted with an early head start on their way home from a hard days work.

Congratulations to all that competed & a big thank you to all that helped, you made the day run so smoothly. We look forward to next year’s event.
